Dr Subbu on Embracing Low-Productive Work Hours 🌍 Embracing Low-Productive Work Hours: A Growing Trend in Modern Workplaces đź•’ In an era where efficiency is prized, the concept of low-productive work hours is gaining traction across various industries. The idea is simple yet profound: not all work hours need to be intensely productive. In fact, incorporating periods of lower productivity can lead to significant benefits. 🔄 What are Low-Productive Work Hours? These are intentional periods within the workday where employees engage in less demanding tasks or take time to recharge. It’s a shift from the traditional 9-to-5 grind towards a more flexible and humane approach to work. 🌱 Why It's Important: Mental Wellness: Low-productive hours give the brain a break, reducing burnout and stress. Creativity Boost: Often, the best ideas come when we're not forcing productivity. Sustained Efficiency: Short bursts of intense work, balanced with periods of rest, can lead to higher overa...

Dr Subbu’s Opinion on Consulting Firms – Goa Government & BCG Big blow for a hashtag  #Big3 (MBB) Consulting firm Goa Government in March this year, 2024 hired Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to support the development of its Viksit Goa 2047 Strategy. The state picked BCG after the central government selected BCG as its consulting partner for India’s national Vision 2047 blueprint Viksit Goa spans a number of long-term objectives, including enhancing connectivity, establishing Goa as a logistics hub, developing the region’s infrastructure such as an international airport, roads, water treatment, and waste management, growing foreign investments, and expanding the tourism sector. Following a review of Boston Consulting Group’s work and deliverables over the past five months, the Goa government has now pulled the plug from the contract According to a statement, issued by Vijay Saxena, Director of Planning, Statistics and Evaluation at the Indian government, “Boston Consulting...

Dr Subbu’s View on Kolkata Brutal Incident to our fellow Indian Doctor

Image
Dr Subbu’s View on Kolkata Brutal Incident to our fellow Indian Doctor Kolkata is considered to be the safest city for women in India. If a heinous crime of such proportion happens in one of the government hospitals, we need to sit back and think deeply about the reasons for this. While working for Derek O'Brien (Quizmaster) I visited Kolkata few times a year. I consider Kolkata as the cultural capital of India with so much respect given to women everywhere. In Management Science, there is a concept of systems thinking. The organization is a part of complex interlinked and interlocked systems and processes. Any weak link in the chain can bring down the whole system. This is what has happened. I will not be surprised if the Supreme Court of India asks the Bengal government to close down the hospital.  What are the key important interlocked links that led to such heinous crime and murder of young lady doctor? 1. There is a huge pressure on government hospitals where the quality...

Dr Subbu - My Initial Response #Bangladesh

Image
Dr Subbu - My Initial Response #Bangladesh Visuals that I see of #hindu families being targeted in #Bangladesh are extremely sad and disturbing.  What did Hindus do to be attacked like this? What role have they played in the reservation issue? Thousands of #Bangladeshis come to India regularly for medical and other purposes, and many of them disappear after arriving here. There are a very large number of them residing in India. What happens if the actions of Bangladeshi people trigger the same acts in India? In specific West Bengal Government, always lends hands with open arms to receive, engage and specially treat those coming from Bangladesh either as a visitor or refugees.  For details please check how many are standing in queue at Kolkata to get Indian citizenship. These are evident from demographic records of West Bengal. One of my old student's family is there, and I cannot even begin to comprehend how stressful it might be for my student. It is really, really dist...

Dr Subbu on Caste Census

Image
Dr Subbu on Caste Census The British colonial government believed caste and religion as India's primary social and political formations. The differences were highlighted and used to divide society. Latin Proverb divide et impera (Divide and rule ) was an unofficial colonial policy to keep the rule going. That's why the government of Independent India discontinued the census based on caste. The demand for caste census is a precursor to taking reservations to 75%. This is unjustified. India needs social justice. There is a strong case for this given the socio-economic deprivation and caste discrimination for the majority of Indians. But India also needs to nurture talent otherwise, in this globalised world, talented people will move to other parts of the world and that will benefit other countries. This 50% reservation and 50% general seats will take care of the requirements of both social justice and nurturing talent. Supreme Court's recent comments that within the caste gr...
